Movie Conventions Research: Saw X
Saw X is a unique installment in the horror genre. Camera angles and movements include high angle shots as a lot of scenes are in the perspective of a security camera. Also eye level shots are used to portray the fear of Jigsaw's victims in the detailed deadly contraptions he calls his "traps". Zooming in and medium close up shots are also used. Costumes and props are the iconic jigsaw puppet and tricycle, and editing and sound include mostly diegetic sound.I like the eye level shots that showcase the panic and emotions of some of the characters. Simple and innocent concepts like puppets and tricycles are also morphed into a very terrifying villain that imposes extreme fear into Jigsaw's victims. Lastly, I like how diegetic sound from the traps and surrounding environment.I dislike the use of the security cameras being used for the perspective, and the high angle shots. The only reason being it would be extremely difficult to replicate for use in my project. I also dislike the Jigsaw puppet because some would not take it seriously.
