Production blog filming - FT

When we finally got to the forest we decided a couple of things. Firstly who exactly the killer should be acted by. We didn’t want to use someone who doesn’t really know how to do it. The killer is the most important part of the film. After deciding that we also had to be certain of where in the park to film. As it was a public park and people were still coming in. We also had to be aware of the closing time. Since the park closed at 7 pm due to the coronavirus pandemic. We deciding on a public picnic area since thankfully no one was there at the time. After picking the area we got to filming. We filmed using an iPhone 14 Pro Max camera since it was the highest quality camera available to us. We used a cane we found as a weapon since it’s not sharp and theoretically could be used a murder weapon. We had other things like a toy sword but we didn’t find those very scary. Afterwards we decided to keep the killer looking insane. We made sure the actor kept his eyes wide open the whole tim

As a group we decided to film in the park. We did this because our film is supposed to be a vlog. Normal at first but then slowly the killer is revealed. The killer will be hidden the background throughout filming. This is to create a sense of unknown and hopelessness. Since the audience will know the killer is there but the characters wont. Afterwards we will attempt to make the killer slowly walk up and kill one character. This character will quickly die off camera so it creates shock. It will be from a upward angle so it won’t be too hard to know what’s happening. This will also prevent the killer from being shown for too long. Any extra parts of us saying cut will be taken out later. The parts that is most important is when we film the killer moving. This is because the killer has to move a certain way. We want the killer to look human but insane. Since our killer isn’t supposed to be supernatural. After we do this the killer will appear to kill the next character. However this ki

While finally deciding what music to use we had to look throughly. There are a lot of music choices to choose from. Some are more mysterious and some are pure scary. While deciding ours we decided to go for pure terror. This was because the killer wasn’t exactly mysterious but he was attempting to kill us immediately. Unlike more mysterious horror villains who take their time. We picked one with a fast pace beat to it so it would attract an immediate rush of fear. High notes with low notes mixed together into the ambient sound also would help. The only hard part about this was making it sync with the moment. Each scene had a slightly different feel to it so the music had to match the scene. You can’t have a horror music playing with a scene not representing anything horror related. After deciding the music for each scene we will set them in. Volume depends on how much action is going on in said scene. In the climax music will be the loudest as that’s when the most music is happening.

As someone who has been using Cap Cut since the start of my school year for my classes, I can confidently say it's the best editing software to use. Especially when filming a horror story such as my group is. I had my doubts when I first opened, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how easy it was to navigate and the tips it tells you to help you navigate. I believe editing for horror is a life saver because it changes ordinary footage into spine-chilling scenes with a few clicks. It's easy to effortlessly create an ominous atmosphere using the app's lighting adjustment and eerie sound effects. There are plenty of transitions available along with haunting music that can keep any audience captivated throughout the video, ensuring maximum impact. My groupmate also mentioned that I could use Cap Cut's color grading options to enhance the eerie ambiance of the scenes, making every frame feel unsettling and ominous. There is also a motion tracking feature that is supposedl

Me and Daniel have decided how to edit our video. We plan to use a black and white filter. This will add some aesthetic to the video and make it more scary. Older horror films and even some new ones have a black and white filter. It can add a sense of mystery and confusion alongside the horror. We can also add some slow motion shots into the video to emphasize the scary parts. Throughout the opening we also plan to use a scary looking font. A scary font will make the video more anonymous which will help in the long run since the killer might not be as scary. Since horror films have been around for a long time it’s harder to make a scary villain. The black and white along with the font will help make this a more superior scary film. The only thing this will not change is whether or not the killer is actually scary. Daniel will be making the video edits to the entire video in each segment. Some scenes won’t have the same edits as other scenes. If a scene isn’t scary and is just the char

While thinking about ways on how to edit our film I think of how to make it the most scary. Scary films usually have a thing about them that makes them unique. For example Friday the 13th movies having a big shock factor every time Jason vorhees appears on screen. For us we wanted something similar to that to be edited into the film. We planned to do this by adding cuts to the killer main villain and back. To give the persons reaction along with the killers Point of view. We wanted to use a lot of mid range and close range shots to make the video seem more like a vlog. We then wanted to add things like scary music. No music can also be useful but only in certain moments of pure suspense. Most times however music can add a sense that isn’t felt otherwise. It also can make a movie more scary obviously. A lot of horror movies in fact wouldn’t even be scary without proper editing. The only disappointing being part whole editing is that a lot of music is copyrighted. This makes it harder t

Before a single frame was shot, meticulous planning was essential. We conducted extensive research and collaborated closely with our team to ensure a faithful adaptation while adding our unique cinematic touch. O ne of the most critical steps was casting the characters. Costumes played a crucial role in evoking the time period and reflecting the characters' personalities. Our costume designers carefully selected attire that resonated with each character's journey. To convey the emotional depth of the story, we employed a range of filming techniques. From intimate close-ups capturing Mrs. Mallard's inner turmoil to sweeping shots highlighting the vastness of her newfound freedom, every frame was crafted with care. Adapting Chopin's rich prose for the screen was a delicate process. Our screenwriters carefully distilled the essence of the story, preserving its poignancy while making necessary adjustments for visual storytelling. At the heart of "The Story of an Hour&q

Me, Jayden, Daniel, and Myles have all planned to do different things during the making of our film. Since it was a horror film, we had to find costumes to use for the main villain. We couldn't come to a decision since if we bought a bad costume, it might of lead to the scene being corny instead of scary. The hardest part was deciding who would be the main villain. We decided on Jayden being the villain since he volunteered for it and fit more costumes better. The main villain also needed a weapon, and we decided on a machete since all of us like the Friday the 13th films and that inspired us to use one. We were ready to bring our opening sequence to life. The final step was buying all the necessary items we needed and going to a film location. However, this was a little difficult since we all had different schedules, and we have to find a time that works for all of us. We are still planning to do the scenes the same as how we planned before but we as a group decided to possibly e
