Genre - Horror
Horror is a genre of fiction that is intended to disturb, frighten or scare. Horror is often divided into the sub-genres of psychological horror and supernatural horror, which are in the realm of speculative fiction. Horror intends to create an eerie and frightening atmosphere for the reader. Often the central menace of a work of horror fiction can be interpreted as a metaphor for larger fears of a society. There are many horror movies in the movie industry such as Friday the 13th which has placed its mark in pop culture. They often will use low angle shots to represent a character fleeing with a character in pursuit or a Dutch angle to show the horror character before the person runs. They often use items like machetes, have dark uniforms, masks, fake blood, and other things to make the film more scary. They often add Diegetic sounds like screaming, yelling, and nondiegetic scary music to further add to suspense and fear. I enjoy being scared by a good horror movie with a good story. However, when a horror movie isn't scary, it just feels corny and boring.
